Bread artist Judith Lehnhardt (@bread_spiration) and photographer Tabita Schier set out with a clear goal: to translate master bakery craftsmanship into an expressive, dramatic visual language. Instead of classic, bright food photography, they envisioned a high-contrast Dark & Moody concept—complete with deep shadows, rich blacks, and rich, tactile textures.
For photographers, the main challenge of such a shoot lies in the lighting setup. Carving out fine crust structures, crispy edges, and flying flour in three dimensions requires absolute control over every light source. The team found the perfect conditions for this in the Leica Photo Studio.
The high-end studio equipment and precise light modifiers made it possible to position shadows and highlights on the bread crowns with centimeter precision. Thanks to the spacious layout, multiple sets could easily be built side by side—ranging from extreme close-ups to dynamic action shots. The versatile studio equipment and tranquil working atmosphere provided the space photographers need to carefully refine the perfect drama of their images. The result is a photo series full of depth and elegance, showcasing how effortlessly creative visions can be brought to life in the Leica Photo Studio.
