"Feel the Grain – Where Analog Meets Digital" A Premium Creative Workshop (EN)
25.08.25 - 26.08.25-
In a world saturated with digital images, analog photography is making a strong comeback. It’s a powerful tool for professionals who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful storytelling.
On August 25–26, 2025, Leica World in Wetzlar invites you to a unique event: "Feel the Grain – Where Analog Meets Digital." This two-day, hands-on workshop (held in English) is built for experienced photographers who want to discover how analog techniques can unlock fresh creative and business potential—while still using the digital workflows they rely on.
Two Days to Advance Your Creative Vision
Day 1 is all about hands-on experience. After an introduction to the creative and commercial potential of analog photography, participants head into the Leica Studio to shoot with models. Working in small rotating groups, you’ll explore different set-ups and discover how intuitive, efficient, and high-quality analog production can be today—with Leica cameras, professional lighting, and plenty of space for creative experimentation. Films will be developed the same day, making the creative process tangible and immediate.
Day 2 focuses on reflection and strategic insight. Together with experts, you’ll analyze the images created on Day 1—technically, artistically, and in terms of market relevance. You’ll learn how to integrate analog work into your digital workflow, how to use film aesthetics to attract new clients, and why authenticity, texture, and image depth are becoming key differentiators in commercial photography.
Learn from the Best—with Leica
The workshop is led by internationally recognized professionals who have long worked successfully with analog photography—many using Leica systems. Dan Rubin, Creative Director and Photographer, brings his deep experience with Leica M and R systems and unique insight into the analog scene. Johannes Huwe, known for his stunning reportage work (featured in LFI, among others), shoots exclusively on film, with clients ranging from Porsche Klassik to McDonald’s.
Marwan El-Mozayen, Editor-in-Chief of SilvergrainClassics, will share deep technical knowledge and current market trends. Daniel Wollstein, commercial photographer for Porsche, VW, and Lamborghini, will offer practical advice on client communication and branding—highlighting analog style as a unique selling point in advertising. Additional insight will come from specialists representing top film manufacturers and labs, who will share their expertise on materials, workflows, and techniques.
