What makes a photo exciting? Often, it doesn’t require any special technique—just a keen eye. If you look more closely, you’ll discover interesting shapes, light and shadow, unusual perspectives, and details that are easily overlooked in everyday life.

In the workshop “Smartphone Photography—Seeing & Perceiving,” children learn the basics of composing a photo. They’ll discover how their own vantage point makes a difference, how light transforms a subject, and how perspective, distance, and framing can be used to create very different images.

After a brief introduction, the focus shifts to hands-on experimentation. Through small photography assignments, participants set out to find subjects in nature and architecture. In the process, they can experiment with different perspectives, discover shapes, and observe how light and shadow influence their shots. The focus is not on technical perfection or the smartphone’s features, but on curiosity, mindful observation, and the joy of bringing your own visual ideas to life. In this way, the smartphone becomes a creative tool and your familiar surroundings become a place full of new subjects.

The vacation workshop will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Leica Welt Wetzlar. Participation costs 25 euros per person. Participants must bring their own smartphone to the workshop. Recommended for 12- to 15-year-olds.
