As dusk settles over Wetzlar and the first lights begin to glow along its historic streets, the old town reveals a charm all its own. The Leica Winter Walk invites photography enthusiasts to capture this magical atmosphere through their lenses and rediscover familiar streets and squares from fresh perspectives. Led by Sebastian Scholz, Store Manager of the Leica Store Wetzlar, participants will embark on a photographic journey through the town dressed in its festive finest.

The walk begins at 6:30 p.m. at the car park of Wetzlar’s New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus). From here, the group will make its way through the festively illuminated streets towards the historic old town and on to Wetzlar’s Christmas market. Half-timbered buildings, sparkling fairy lights and beautifully decorated market stalls offer countless photographic opportunities. Along the way, there will be plenty of time to pause, experiment with different angles and capture the enchanting atmosphere of the Advent season.

At the heart of the walk is the art of seeing: reflections of light on cobblestone streets, warm colours illuminating the winter darkness and subtle details that often go unnoticed in everyday life. Sebastian Scholz will guide participants with his technical expertise and keen eye for light, atmosphere and composition. Through practical tips and creative inspiration, he will encourage participants to explore new perspectives and refine their photographic vision.

The Leica Winter Walk welcomes everyone with a passion for photography who would like to experience Wetzlar from a different perspective during the festive season. There will be ample opportunity to develop individual photographic ideas, exchange experiences and capture memorable moments in a personal way. At the Christmas market, the vibrant interplay of light, movement and festive atmosphere offers the perfect setting for expressive photographs.

Part of Leica Welt’s Christmas programme, the Leica Winter Walk combines the joy of photography with a more mindful experience of the Advent season – an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the moment while surrounded by the lively spirit of Christmas.

The Leica Winter Walk takes place on Saturday, 12 December 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The meeting point is the car park of the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) in Wetzlar. The participation fee is €22 per person.
